PRESS RELEASE

 

 

The Winter Session, 2006 of Parliament (9th Session of Fourteenth Lok Sabha and the 209th Session of the Rajya Sabha) is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, the 22nd of November, 2006 and subject to exigencies of Government Business, the Session will conclude on Tuesday, the 19th of December, 2006.  The Session will provide a total of 20 sittings spread over a period of 28 days. 

 

2.         The Session will mainly be devoted to essential Government legislative and other business, including financial business relating to Supplementary Demands for Grants for the year 2006-07 in respect of Railway and General Budgets.

 

3.                  The Hon’ble Minister of Parliamentary Affairs held a meeting on Friday, the 17th of November, 2006 with the Secretaries/Senior Officers of the various Ministries/Departments to finalise the Government Legislative and other Business for the Winter Session, 2006.  During the meeting, various items of legislative, financial and other business were identified for being taken up during the Session.  Some important items are indicated below:-
